Hillsboro Family Shelter

latest update 10/10/24

We are excited to share that the renovation of the Hillsboro house is complete. However, there has been a delay in getting families moved in as we are working to coordinate the assembly of furniture from IKEA. The process has taken longer than expected, and we are actively exploring additional support from other groups that are interested in assisting us to expedite this. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that the home is ready as soon as possible for the families in need. Thank you for your continued support!

Finish the House that Hope built!

We are working hard to meet the needs of additional families and are exited to share our progress toward opening the Hillsboro Shelter House - a major goal that is now becoming a reality.

The historical classification of the facility required an extensive and time-consuming zoning and permitting process. During the time that it took to secure permits successfully, the cost of materials increased significantly along with economic inflation. This has left us at a $58,000 deficit to complete the remaining necessary repairs, and inspections, and successfully secure our Certificate of Occupancy, all of which are required to finally open the shelter for families experiencing homelessness.

The remaining final steps would allow us to complete the Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC needs of the house
